KL swimmer, Steve Khiew, clinched gold in Spanish Junior Swimming Championship in 400m freestyle

KL swimmer, Steve Khiew, did us proud again when he clinched GOLD in one of his pet events, 400m freestyle as he raced and clocked 3:50.77 in the Astralpool and Junior Absolute Spanish Championship 2021 in Spain. Steve improved from his last PB of 3:51.56 which he did during the recent Malaysia Open in June 2021.

Steve is being accompanied by Coach Christian Martin and a few national swimmers in the EspaƱola meet being held at the pool of the CN Metropole in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria from 3rd - 7th August, 2021.Watch broadcast live on Streaming RfenTV.

A day before, Steve also participated in 400m IM and broke the Malaysian national record (NR) twice  (previously held by his training peer Sebastian Soon, 4:28.34).  He qualified to finals from the preliminary heats with a PB of 4:26.76. He further bettered the NR with a new time of 4:24.83 in the  finals.  Albeit his hard work, with strong European competitors, Steve managed a 4th position in 400m IM. An excellent achievement, nevertheless.

Big congratulations to Steve. Hopefully he can also better his PBs in other events which are running at the moment of this report.
